Online divorce is a smart choice for an uncontested California divorce.

But that doesn’t mean your hiring choice will be easy. You still have to hire an online divorce provider without getting screwed. Regrettably, online divorce is a completely unregulated industry that is full of fraud, trickery, up-selling and incompetence.

Below in our price comparison table of 16 online divorce websites offering California online divorce are the good, the bad and the very ugly.

Here are the 2 Most Recent Pricing Scams in the California Divorce Consumer’s Struggle To Discover the ACTUAL Cost to File For Divorce in California

These are the 2 most common misleading price scams facing California divorce consumers at this time.

One scam comes from the bottom end of the online divorce industry – the “cheap” services, which aren’t so cheap, that are based in India and Ukraine and Mexico and hide monthly “storage” fees in their Terms of Use, where they know you will not look.

The second pricing scam comes from the expensive end of the online divorce industry – California based non-lawyer companies that are fronted by hot-shot Hollywood divorce lawyers. This scam is a $99 teaser fee that include no client support. This teaser fee is designed to screw up your case so that you are up-sold to a $1000 or $1100 package to correct the problems your case would not have if you had had access to client support.

2018 – Hidden Monthly “Storage” Fees

When you hire the low-level conmen at onlinedivorce.com, getdivorcepapers.com and many others at a claimed complete fee of $139,
their top pages and pricing pages represent the $139 fee as the total fee.

But $139 is only for the first 30 days. To hire them, you must agree to their Terms of Use, including the hidden fees.  Then they hit your credit card every month until you cancel. And when you call them to cancel, they put you on hold forever. We know this from their 194 Better Business Bureau complaints.

NetDivorce has a flat fee of $129. There are no ups or extras EVER. You cannot pay us more. It’s a simple concept.  Our fee is a total of $129 per case – not per person or per month.

Anyhow, what the heck is a “storage” fee in online divorce? NetDivorce stores the exact same data. In fact, we store 5 years of data. And we pay for incremental daily backups of all data. It costs almost nothing to securely store data and to keep it well backed up.

2020 – $99 Teaser Fees That Include NO CLIENT SUPPORT

This second pricing scam involves $99 teaser fees where you get to use their online software but cannot ask them any questions.  You get no client support.

California divorce is complex.  You will have questions. If you have no access to an expert caseworker, you’re going to make mistakes. It’s that simple. The California divorce process is designed by lawyers to make it difficult for consumers to complete their cases so that consumers must hire lawyers to finalize their cases.

On itsovereasy.com, the next package up from the $99 teaser fee is $1000. On hellodivorce.com, the next package up from $99 is $1100. Each site has other packages that are much more expensive. The difference between $99 and $1000-$1100 should tell you all you need to know.

These companies bet against you. They do provide written instructions, just like NetDivorce does, but the process is so complex that you will have questions even if you have written instructions.  In some instances, you will have questions and confusion BECAUSE of the written instructions.

NetDivorce knows this. It’s the nature of California divorce. That’s why we include unlimited client support in our $129 flat fee. It would be dishonest not to do so.

At itsovereasy.com and hellodivorce.com, you will screw up your case because you have no access to a caseworker to ask questions in the $99 teaser package. After you’ve screwed up your case, they will then up-sell you to the $1000-$1100 package to fix the problems you would not have had if you had access to client support from the beginning.
