Online divorce is a smart choice for an uncontested California divorce.
But that doesn’t mean your hiring choice will be easy. You still have to hire an online divorce provider without getting screwed. Regrettably, online divorce is a completely unregulated industry that is full of fraud, trickery, up-selling and incompetence.
Below in our price comparison table of 16 online divorce websites offering California online divorce are the good, the bad and the very ugly.
Here are the 2 Most Recent Pricing Scams in the California Divorce Consumer’s Struggle To Discover the ACTUAL Cost to File For Divorce in California
2018 – Hidden Monthly “Storage” Fees
2020 – $99 Teaser Fees That Include NO CLIENT SUPPORT
This second pricing scam involves $99 teaser fees where you get to use their online software but cannot ask them any questions. You get no client support.
California divorce is complex. You will have questions. If you have no access to an expert caseworker, you’re going to make mistakes. It’s that simple. The California divorce process is designed by lawyers to make it difficult for consumers to complete their cases so that consumers must hire lawyers to finalize their cases.

|OnlineDivorcer.com||$139++||Initially based in the Czech Republic, but now based in Mexico (??). Initially claimed over 10,000 divorces completed and 12 years of experience as of 2019, but the Czech company (Palantis Group) only started in April 2018 and this website has only been up since December 2019. Therefore, this appears to be yet another foreign scam. |

|HelloDivorce.com||$99 – $4500||Very tricky pricing. $99 looks attractive, but it’s a teaser fee. THAT FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY CLIENT SUPPORT. You are completely on your own. You get to use their online system, but you can’t ask questions. California divorce is the second most difficult in the whole country. You will need client support or things will go wrong. When you screw up your case, they upsell you to their $1100, $2500, $3000 or $4500 packages to clean up the mess you would not have if you had client support. The fact that their teaser fee is $99 and their next package up is $1100 should be enough to tell you all you need to know. Be careful.|
